Maidah Textile

Maidah Textile

Through empowerment we will get stronger!

Aims and Objectives:

We have promised to be the hope for hundreds of women and over a thousand orphan children on this journey since 2015. Our 6 years of experience with women and children – the most vulnerable members of society – has shown us that women are a leading force. If a woman is strong, so is the family.

For women who have lost their spouses, one of the primary conditions for being strong is financial independence – women should gain ability of professional communication within society and have an experience on labor – income exchange process. A few years ago, we started working on social entrepreneurship projects to help such women to overcome problems in the process of psychological and financial transformation of being “strong”. Following this purpose Maidah Textile was launched as a social enterprise for widows.

Through empowerment we will get stronger!

Eco-bag:

One of the main parts of our annual plan is to provide scholarships to potentially bright and capable orphans from 10th and 11th grade students who are registered in Cigir NPO. Due to the increase in the number of our applicants for scholarship , we have started to implement various income-generating projects.

The tailors of the Maidah Textile workshop started to sew bags, purses and booklets from environmentally friendly fabrics (mainly linen) to support the scholarship project. Another distinguishing feature of this project is that volunteer artists and orphan students draw on these handmade bags expressing their feelings, emotions, and hope, as well as they make art on the fabric in accordance with customers’ requirements and orders. We sell these specially designed bags and donate all income to the education of children whose fathers have passed away.

About the project:

In 2019, with the limited resources , we started a tailoring workshop for widows who have appropriate skills or want to improve their abilities and learn the profession. With the support of various projects and philanthropists, the necessary technical equipment for the workshop was provided. Tailoring trainings were conducted for women by professional tailors. Today, working mothers sew tablecloths, bedding, towels, clothes and other household textiles. Maidah Textile supports both women who want to continue their work in a tailor’s shop and those who want to start their own business. The products made by Maidah Textile which has a high quality, delicate taste get high customer satisfaction, as well as  appear more frequently in various local exhibitions.

In the beginning, we assist with the sale process and help these women working in the workshop to reach their potential customers. The profit generated gets used towards the expenses, the salary for these women and for the progress of the project.
